Heater

Asked by Cooldawg Jul 06, 2018 at 02:48 PM about the 2007 Cadillac CTS 3.6L RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 07 caddy CTS.  The heat only works on the
passenger side and not the drivers side in vents,
floor and windshield. It's a duel climate control. I
tried another climate control unit (used) in but did
the same thing.  I can hear the motor working on
the vent doors opening and closing as I switch
tempatures.  What else could it be?  Maybe 2
heater cores?? 2 thermostats?? Please help. I'm
stumped

There may be a part called a thermister located in the offending vent (side) that is not sensing the temperature. You would have to look at a wiring hvac diagram to verify. Also concerning the vent doors, sometimes those arms break and the motor will make noise but not actually be moving anything if the plastic cheese ball parts snap and yes most of the under the dash items are a major hassle to access. Good Luck!
