fan is not working

jaguar 2000 s type v8 .  After follow tips and helpful online instructions. My car
started with new fuel pump.
Now the engine fan not on, engine will get hot latter(I turned car off right away).
What went wrong?  Should I do something else before I change the fan?
I hgot the check engine light ON.  Please help again.  Thank u so much.

Since the check engine light is on, get the code read, that is likely telling you what the problem is. Then check what controls when the fan turns on: a relay, an engine coolant temp sensor, etc.
