Great Advice. However, the front is not the literal front it is actually towards the back of the car as you stand facing the car.
You have to remove the front bumper from the S-type to pull the light assembley out, then from there you can get to the low beam light alot easier. Unscrew the plastic cap at the back of the light and twist the igniter off to get to the bulb thats held on by 2 clips. can be a pain twisting it back together when you reassemble it but it can definetely be done.
Just completed putting passenger side low beam bulb in 2003 s type-THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE THE BUMPER! There is a plastic cover over the light assembly the width of the car with four plastic retainers easily removed w screwdriver. Remove the turn signal bulb assembly with just a twist. Remove plastic cover below for the low beam bulb enclosure, turning counterclockwise. Pop the metal retainer and remove the bulb. Unplug bulb from plastic female plug and insert new plug. Reverse procedure to finish up. Very simple.
I have a 2000 Jag S-Type. No need to take the bumper off. Untwist and put to the side the turn signal assembly. Untwist the cap. Undo the clip holding the low beam bulb assembly. Pull out the bulb with the wire connection attached; then remove the wire connection. Installation just the reverse.
Just replaced the low beam on my Jaguar . Some told me that I would have to take off the front bumper. Wrong,! 15 minutes and I was closing the hood. Cool
Remove the round cap, push in on the outer clip only it will release the bulb harness, remove the bulb get a H7 bulb and done do not remove the bumper no need it take about 10-15 minuets. The clip to push on will be the bigger ones farther apart
Ok, I'm out there looking, took the plastic panel off, and I don't see a way to get that bulb out. There just isn't enough room between the light and the cross-memeber to get it out.
If your S-Type has the standard Halogen low-beams...no need to remove the bumper. HOWEVER, if your S-Type has the optional HID headlamps, it is IMPOSSIBLE to change both bulbs without removing the bumper or a LOT of delicate electrical cables, etc. around the front right fusebox AND the Air-Cleaner box. Just went to the Jag delaer this week, and the lead tech took the bumper off.
