why wont my customers Roadmaster Wagon start.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

customer brought me his car for minor body work to the rear tailgate. Car ran and drove in the shop. Knocked out the dent in the tailgate, and now the car wont start. Is their an impact switch for safety incase of a rear end collision. The car will crank , but will not start. We sprayed starting fluid and it started, so I know its a fuel pump problem, all fuses have been checked and all electrical connectors have been checked . What could it be? Thanks
Reuben.

The fuel pump wiring runs on the on the driverside then comes out of the body and up the back of the tank. Get down and look just under the car by the bumper support on the driver side. The connector for the fuel pump and fuel gauge are right about there. Check to see if it is not damaged/disconnected. There is also a red wire under the hood on the passenger side with a female connector on it. That is a fuel pump test wire. Put 12v on this and the pump should work without the key being in the on position.
