The key chip does not go out. First off are you getting the pass key light on and the car will not start? If you answer yes to that question. Your key and lock assembly (Like on my 96 roadmaster wagon) has worn out! If you have a second key try that first. If not you can have a new key made (about $60). These keys are not a chip but a resistor and when the key or the lock assembly wear out you loose contact and you will get the pass key light go on in the upper left hand side of your instrument cluster.
