Car will not start

Asked by ONeal76 Jul 21, 2017 at 06:17 PM about the 1996 Buick Roadmaster Limited Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fuel pump and injectors stop firing. I hot wired
the fuel pump and it works but will only start with
starter fluid. It was running yesterday but want
start now. Is it the fuel injection module or?

Could have popped a fuse. There is a fuse box under the hood on the passenger side. Open the cover and check fuses and overall condition of the connections/wires feeding the box as well. also look for ground wires that could have been disconnected because of rust or are broken off (age). This sounds like more of a failed wiring issue caused by the age of the car (I.E. chaffed wire, rusted or bad connection and fuse possibly blown caused by the other things mentioned) Good luck Dan.

I had the same problem with mine. In my case, it ended up being the sending unit. We drove ourselves crazy after the pump tested good, but my friend eventually checked the voltage from the sending unit, and it was dead. We put a new sending unit in, and it fired right up.
