I JUST HAD A MECHANIC INSTALL NEW CAP ROTOR AND DISTRIBUTOR,IT WAS BAD I SAW IT FOR MYSELF.BUT NOW ENGINES IDLES HIGH THEN GETS NORMAL BUT IS MISSING.I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE AND I GOT THESE CODES P0430 AND P0420.ENGINE CRANKS ON A DIME,BUT I AM QUESTIONING DID THE MECHANIC SET THE TIMING RIGHT.CAR IS NOT LOSING POWER BUT JUST DOESN'T RUN RIGHT.WHEN I UNPLUG THE AIR IDLE CONTROL VALVE CAR RUNS HIGH IDLE BUT DOES NOT MISSES.CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME AN IDEA OF WHAT THIS CAN BE.

Catalyst inefficiency codes. o2 sensors could be bad. Could have an exhaust leak causing the o2 sensors to give a false reading. Your timing should be fine.

i put in new spark plugs today and saw a little oil around the threads,so now im thinking maybe my rings are leaking or something but there is no smoke coming from my taiplipe.ANY IDEAS..........

Catalyst efficiency codes could also mean a bad converter. If the converter is clogged it could cause a low rpm issue.
