How do I know if my starter is going has?

First check battery cables/posts to ensure they are clean/tight. Turn the ignition and if only you hear is a click from the beneath the hood..probably the starter. Next have some one to observe your headlights..turn the ignition and if the headlights remains bright ..probably the starter. I might add, of the three Rivieras (2 95's and 98 I presently own) never had I the need to change a starter. Good luck....
