Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 GMC Savana 2500 V6 I use
for work it was running fine then just didn't
start at one of my customers homes. Had it
towed home replaced the fuel pump and
filter still didn't start. Replaced the
distributor, and ignition module it started
but died after 30 seconds didn't sputter
out just died like you turned the key off
then would have to wait ten minutes before
it started again then died. So Then
replaced the ignition coil now it will start
but dies seconds after then only cranks I
have to wait an hour or so before it does it
all over again. I have good fuel pressure
can anyone help with this please?

that guessin' gets expensive- doesn't it? for what you have spent, you could've had it fixed at a good garage already- folks don't seem to be able to catch up to the 21st Century- these new cars are not meant to be fixed by their owners- you have to go back in time to simpler machines to do that- like my '93 GMC

Well your right although it did have a mid fire before and now when it does start the mid fire is gone and it runs a lot better for that short minute before it dies.

You might have a fuel injector pulling too much power which cause it to die out. Try disconnecting the battery to see if it stays running. If it runs long enough to do that. Get the battery cable lose and ready to pull off. I have an 85 olds that did this and it was the fuel injector. My Olds had a throttle body with one injector. If you have sequential fuel injection and this idea works you will have to find out which injector is bad. Maybe you can disconnect each injector and then start it and see if it stays running without that injector and if it does just replace that injector. Good Luck. Gary

Its positively your security system shutting your fuel pump down. Its right next to your ignition switch under the cowling on top. Yellow, Brown and Black wires. Cut them and connect yellow to brown, turn key to on position but dont start it. leave it till the security light goes out. Do that three times. It will take awhile but it will start.

GuruLQBSZ is 100% correct. It was the Security. I didn’t have to cut wires. I turned key but didn’t start Security Light was flashing, who not stay running while Security Light flashes. I then hopped in locked the doors and unlocked the doors, turned to start this time the Security Light went out. It was able to start 2nd try
