GMC envoy 2007 2WD speedo tranny

Asked by Fahd Jan 18, 2022 at 06:25 AM about the 2007 GMC Envoy SLE-1 4 Dr SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have GMC envoy 2007 RWD. what happens to my vehicle is that it would
not shift from 1st to 2nd gear while the speedo is stuck at 0. Once the engine
has warmed up enough, i will notice that all of a sudden, the speedometer
starts moving and gear shifts to 2nd immediately... after that it shifts and
speedo runs perfectly.

what could be the issue?

Here's the problem , people buy vehicles with tech over kill thinking they're getting " the best " when in fact they're getting a headache . There's probably a code reader for the tranny and the computers are tied together affecting each other . Take to a shop you can trust and good luck with that . We used to drive vehicles till they fell apart but the motor still ran .

Find a good independent shop, they can do live data testing and tell you if it has a speed sensor or wiring problem or a shift solenoid problem or maybe even both. The typical sign of a speed sensor is an inoperative speedometer.

i did computer scan a month ago... no codes/ errors/ failures except O2 sensor. i also replaced battery last year ... but the issue still exists. i am face this issue since last 3~4 years... beginning from 2018 when i had debris on exhaust cam actuator solenoid. got it cleaned and had oil changed (didnt change oil for 6 months due to low mileage) and the light went off... but i noticed the gear shifting and speedometer problem. this problem is aggravated in cold nights/ cold starts. even yesterday, i faced same issue but pressed the gas too much... then the engine moved to 2nd gear and speedo fine but no cruise-control and engine light came on (for the first time)... today morning i turned on the engine... waited for 15 minutes until it warmed up fully... then drove off and the i didnt see any issue + engine light also went off.

Now that the check engine light came on you can get the code from memory as long as no one resets the system. That should give you starting place.
