The little red button is the ignition lock. You press it you should hear a click. Now you can turn the keys to the off position but the car stays running and you can take the keys out with you. This prevents the car from shifting into gear until you insert the key and turn it to an on position. 2 clicks I believe. Do not turn it like you are starting it. Just put the key in, one-click forward you can step on the brake, and the car will shut off. One more click forward the car is back in the on position and you can now shift gears normally. The lock will stay on until you shift out of park. Meaning you can turn it back to the off position and removes the keys as many times as you want. After you shift you can turn the car off normally.
