I just did a head gasket kit on a 97 Tahoe, found a crack in the cylinder head so i also replaced that. Now between 30 and 40 mph and shifting from 3rd to fourth is hesitates. i was aware or so i thought that it has electric timing so i was wondering why it would hesitate

Replace fuel filter. Test your fuel pressures. Spec for 97 Vortec is 60-66 psi key on. Sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator or pump - to test, clamp off the flexible fuel return line and measure pressure with key on, if it is now 60 or higher you have a bad fuel pressure regulator, if it is lower, bad fuel pump/check valve.
