Check the fluid level first. Chevrolet transmissions will lose reverse first if the fluid gets low due to a leak. If the fluid is full, and you still have no reverse, then there is a good chance that the transmission has failed and will need to be rebuilt.

just reconcile yourself with the fact that your tranny has crapped out, or soon will. dont waste your time and money bullshitting with quick fixes. if you like your truck, go meet your local aamco man. . .

STOCK 700r4's are crap. They can be made into a very decent street performance transmission, though.

no. they have a problem with the one gear that shares overdrive. i believe its 2nd. its the only basic problem with that transmission. a nice rebuild with upgraded parts on the specific gear will make for a great performer. and only getting that one gear done cost me $600.

Street performance is all fine and dandy, but you can't tow anything or carry much weight in the vehicle, which is what Suburbans are designed to do.
