my steering isn't working

can I fix it without dropping the subframe and would it be cheaper to replace the rack I can get one for $60

i found the problem one of the brakets broke and it goes uup and down on the right side which is y it doesn't turn right all the time but the bracket bolt is in such a bad place that I still need to drop the subframe to fix it can someone tell me what that intails and where I can get a crossbeam engine hanging thing for rent

Do u have to drop the subframe on a 2007 Chevy Malibu to get to the rack and pinion

yes its not that hard I was 16 when I did it there ar two bolts near the end of the radiator and two by the bottom of the driver and pass door and two small bolts on each side of the car by the bolts that are by the driver and pass door take the cv joints out and hang the engine from the ceiling and put jack stands under the body there are two bolts in the centerish region of the rear arm of the subframe

take the bolt to the steering knucle all the way out it is not a pinch bolt like it says on some car forums
