My 07 ford edge seems to drag in the rear end at 18mph feels like im driviving on rough rd then goes away... my mechanic suggested to change transmission fluid because it may be gummy.... ant suggestions?

My 07 ford edge seems to drag and ride rough at around 18 mph and then settles
down.my mechanic suggested that I change transmission fluid because it could be
gumming up, I have not done that yet. Any suggestions ?
