Where is the linkage cable located on an automatic chevy cavalier

It is a 1997 and it is stuck in reverse
and won't start

driver's side.. see the steel cables from the firewall to to top of the transmission? yours could have seized. use the parking brake to hold the car if u manually shift the x-mission. hope this helps.. J
