timing chain

replaced timing chain and gears and tensioner on my 1997 chev cavalier. Set timing marks according to manual tried to start it had symptoms of  out of time. I am not beyond making a mistake.I took it all apart and it was 180 0ut I realigned the marks again making sure this time Tried to start same, symptoms took it apart again same thing 180 out what am i doing wrong

You answered your question 180 degrees out! spend sometime online read up or view YouTube... remember number 1 at TDC Compression before proper alignment of timing marks.
