There usually isn't a trans dipstick for these engines. The only way to check the fluid is to purchase a dipstick from the dealer. Sorry...

IF the tranny just has a fill cap on top of the transmission to check the fluid level there is a plug on the underneath side on the passenger side that is up a little ways from the bottom of the transmission...take out that plug and if fluid runs out its full if it doesn't go on top and add fluid till it starts to come out...not very scientific way of doing things but that is how GM designed it and the way check it at the dealerships and repair shops

Not sure on what years, but check down on the top of the tranny, just afew inches from the mid line of the tranny towards the back of the car, look for a small red plug, it's usually covered in road grime, but some of the chevys, pontiacs, and saturns that used that style tranny have a small dipstick on the tranny. Usually have to move some crap to get it out though.
