What would make an odometer suddenly read 60,000 more miles than is on the car, then change back over a few weeks on an 07 Jeep Commander?

Why would my Jeep Commander, 07, suddenly show 60,000 more miles on the odometer.
It has since changed back to the original miles.

liquid crystal acting up making another numeral appear by segment arrangement , or you were in another dimension for a while, it happens occasionally with me I know!

I like the notion about the tires. They are new so I will definitely check this out.
