my 02 s80 has a bad fuel smell, any suggestions?

stop...don't drive it until we can figure out where the leak is coming from..start it and looksee so we can get can a clue~

I have located the leak to the top of the fuel tank on the passenger side, I have removed the back seat, but cannot figure out how to remove the side leather pieces before I can remove the folding backrest. Any assistance you can gie would be greatly appreciated.
