trunk does not open with remote

I would have said check the remote but if its both then its probably that its receiving the signal but cannot execute. Probably a problem with the sensor.

I thought the same thing on my wife's 1999 S80 T6. From what I can tell, it does not release if the car is unlocked. You just grab the trunk and open with the release button under the handle. If the car is locked, it seems to release. I agree though, it was annoying.
