I have 1998 chevy cavalier 2.4L the check engine light came on and I HaD it scanned they said it was an exhaust leak, and something about loss of power to control module??? Any ideas what this means??

I have a 2003 chevy cavalier and the transmission was fine when I went to store,came out and it would not go,guy who fixed it said the clip on the shift cable broke and put a new clip on,does this sound wright?I don't see a clip,or clamp that holds shift cable in place,I know they can break but that is cable not a clip,or clamp,any help 6 Answers

Hello I have a 2001 chevy cavalier and yesterday morning I tried to start my car and turned over the key and it did absolutely nothing. There was no clicking or winding noises only noise I heard was my fuel pump kicking on. All my lights are working normal and so is my radio.
