Badly stuck camper table.

Asked by bcrum Jul 16, 2010 at 11:59 PM about the 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Camper Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It is not a full camper.  It has a queen size bed and a camper table and two seats that face backwards.  The table has been stuck since we bought it used in 1995.  We're retired now and want to hit the road and we want the table to work.  Our trusted hometown VW mechanic won't fix it for fear of destroying the side panel.  Dealership says the same thing.  Anybody know anything about this???

If your table is still stuck...The lock that holds the table flat against the side panel is held in with two thin screws. I found that the table can be pulled out and screws could then be reset after filling the screw holes with epoxy or wood filler. The table and side panel should both survive the pulling away. Chris
