Kelly, see this link, why not just get it rebuilt, http://www.carcomplaints.com/Volkswagen/Jetta/2006/transmission/tr ansmission_failure.shtml

OK Kelly, not your car. RECORD, have you had other problems? Unfortunately, VWs are not that reliable. Asian cars are better, in my opinion. Sorry.

I have had Asains before and lets just say they leave more to be desired in more than one area. I have a Passat now AND IT DOES HAVE ISSUES BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

I see, you mean this car? http://www.carcomplaints.com/Volkswagen/Passat/2006/

I've had two VWs, and they both were maintenance hogs, blew the engines, clutches and transmissions. Oh, I bought them brand new by the way. First one was a bug and through a rod at 62,000 miles, the next one a Rabbit, thought they might have improved, they didn't. I had that rebuilt, and kept the car for 11 years with the aid of a VW mechanic. Never again, now it's all Asian cars for me.
