Not turning over

Car was running.  Parked and cut it off, when
trying to restart it, it won’t even turn over.

I am having the same issue with my daughter's 2006 VW Beetle. I am not even getting the interior indicator lights to come on. I already tried replacing the ignition switch but that did not help the situation. Is it the same for you where the lights surrounding the speedometer don't even light up?
