my 2005 new beetle has a buzzing sound from the passenger side and a heavy
exhaust smell in the cabin. have replaced the pipe from the turbo and new cat.

A smell in the cabin might be oil leaking onto the exhaust. You need to inspect the timing cover gaskets.
