Trunk light won't go off, then battery dead, charged it, car started, but ran rough and dies help

take the bulb out of the trunk light- maybe that caused the battery to drain- then charge that battery up- is it old? get a new one- does that help? let us know-

No. The trunk ajar light in on the console panel which indicates the trunk lid isn't closed--it is firmly closed checked several times. Cleaned battery cables and car would start, but ran very rough and died. Removed the air sensor valve connection, now car runs, but don't think I should just leave it unconnected. Any ideas?
