I have a 2005 VW Jetta and the ignition key will not go in the ignition any idea why?

I have owned my jetta for 9 years and this evening I came home turned off the ignition
and took my keys out.   About an hour later I went to start my car and the key will not go
in the ignition. Any idea why?

one of the key catchs is probly jammed. You may need a new ignition unit but you might not get something slim long and hard and see if you can't dislodge and free the stuck slider in the ignition. be gentle so you dun break something
