2002 VW Jetta

Asked by Amtul71 Jul 12, 2017 at 02:17 PM about the 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 02 VW JETTA and it is making a whining
sound after trying to take a jump. It is a fairly new
battery. My son in law was driving the car and said
it got hot and turned off while driving and then
wouldn't take a jump from that point on. I tried
disconnecting the neg cable and resetting the car
by turning the key 5 times but no luck.

See if you can isolate where the noise is coming from. Could be several things such as an alternator. You should check the voltage output on that anyway.

Temperature control sensor. Change it and see what happens since the motor is getting so hot.
