VW Jetta 2.0 blinking Check Engine Light

So I went to start my car up and my CEL
started blinking. Also the engine was shaking
pretty hard. Anyone with a VW probably has
seen the CEL on a lot, but I've never seen
mine blink. I turned the car off and left it
alone for a while. I went online did my
research and it seems like it was misfiring. I
went and turned the car back on and the
CEL was still on but it was not blinking. I
drove maybe 3 or 4 miles to see how it
would go and it seemed okay. What I'm
getting at is would it be safe to drive about
80 miles home to my mechanic.

hey thank you so much for this answer, I did purchse 4 new spark plugs for tonight since there has not been atune up since purchase date, its a 2014 bought with 20 miles only on it! so i checked the oil and being synthetic, it saved the motor because the oil was extremely low for some reason, and i just had an oil change in november, why so much consumption of oil? the computer test showed an air to gas ratio issues, as well as the ignitio. last night when i first expereincethis i thought myabe fuel pump too, but could it just be a bad gas cap causing misfires, or fuel pump an or injector issues?
