trouble getting car in gear

when the car is cold, i cannot put it into gear. and once this starts it doesn't stop. i have to "jam" it into gear, or turn the car off and put it in gear. once the car is warm, the car goes fine. i have taken it to my vw guys several times for this problem. i think i may need a new tranny!

i have a 98 jetta vr6 5 speed. this happened to mine & was very hard to put through the gears. problem was it wasnt disengaging due to a bad master cylinder & slave cylinder. $600 dollars to fix
