I have a 1999 Chevy Surburban with a 5.7l engine and, I believe a 4 speed tranny with over drive, don't know for sure. It has 148,300 mi on it. Tranny shifts hard going from second to third.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shifts very hard and a slight slip from second to third. Other wise shifts good in rest of gears. Checked fluid level, checked full.

Yes it is a 4 speed automatic with O/D. If the fluid is brown/black, smells burnt and is slipping/shifting hard the transmission is definitely toast. If the fluid is red like cherry kool-aid you might try a transmission flush.
