Engine cutting out

2003 VW GTI 1.8 cuts out while driving down the road. Have to almost feather the gas to keep going. It's not liking the hills.

If you drive steady and slowly does it run ok? If so look for plugged fuel filter, partially plugged catalytic converter other fuel delivery problems.

Read the codes from you ecu. Maybe you have throttle issues. maybe it's drive by wire.
