I have a vw mk4 gti vr6 and I was racing and after I burnt out it hit redline in first but only for a second and I shifted then as I profess to shift my gears were all messed up,any ideas?!

Sounds like a loused trans. Did you hear any odd noises when you tried to shift or before? Any clanks, grinds, pings, or bangs?
