Stripped Bolt

I have a 1993 Volkswagen Cabriolet, well the bolt holding the alternator to the motor is stripped! Its an allen bolt. How do I get it off?

You can buy a stripped bolt remover or go redneck and use pliers. it might work to use a torch to heat up than hammer a screw driver into it and turn using this. (this will destroy the bolt and you will not be able to reuse it)

Use a Vise Grips. Get it really tight and use a good quality pair not the cheap hardware store kind.

Depends if the bolt is going into the block, or a bolt and nut. If it a bolt and nut you could use a small grinder to grind the head of the bolt off.

cut a slot into the screw with a dremmel tool for £20 from maplins, then use a flat head screw driver to unscrew the bolt :-) simple
