98 Z3 not running right after check engine light came on, decreased power

98 z3 check engine light came on abruptly when slowing down &  speeding up thru an ez pass lane.was  in shop for 2 weeks, cylinder2 is missing, he cant figure it out, multiple tests , now sez may be timing belt...??? help

Yes,that sound,s like it may be your problem.Belt jumping,just hope you don,t have head damage,it will cost a lot more than just the belt replacement,and all so if i were you ,i would have mechanic put the hole timing belt kit in it,with new water pump,and have him check compression before he doe,s his work,this will determine if you have head damage.
