My '99 LT 4 WD Blazer Turning lights acting like Hazards

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When you signal to turn it acts like hazards are on but the light you signaled to be on is off, when i apply the hazards all lights work again? I think it is a grounding issue or maby a shortage but i am not sure. Plz help trying to get it road worthy so it can be my first car.

Grand Am's of that era have a similar problem. I suspect that GM used the same circuitry in both models. The Grand Am does not have a flasher unit. It uses the hazard warning circuitry for the turn signals. Replacing the hazard switch or cleaning the multi-function switch on the steering column usually corrects it.
