Fuel pump for Toyota 2T enging

Asked by Van Aug 06, 2018 at 08:36 PM about the 1977 Toyota Corolla DX

Question type: General

I bought a fuel pump for Toyota engine model 2T but it has 3 inlet / outlet pipes
however my original fuel pump has only 2 pipes one for inlet and one for outlet.
How do I install this new pump, what to do with the middle extra pipe ?

I just looked them up quick, the 1.2L pump is a three port and the 1.6L is a two port

It is a 1983 Toyota Corona 1.6 2T engine. For your convenience I am up loading photos of the original 2 port pump for Asian models and the Beck Arnley 3 port pump for American models. What to do with the middle port ?

It a return line, if you plug it the fuel pressure will raise above the normal running pressure and youll flood the carb. You could run a return line or find the proper pump, I'm searching for the 2 port stay tuned

Airtex part number 1074 from a 1974 US Corolla 1.6L looks to be the right one as it also uses the 2T engine and has a 2 port fuel pump. Youll need to use NPT hose adapter fittings is the only drawback. There is a 2 port with hose nippes already attached from a 1977 Corolla 1.6L. Unfortunately my search is limited by my location (North America) due to manufactures websites automatically giving me only my region and the vehicles that were readily available
