Hi Sue, Toyota did produce AWD Corollas for the 88-92 model years. The system was called four wheel drive all-trac. The Corolla sedan AWD was produced in very VERY small numbers. The Corolla all-trac wagon, which was sold in base and SR5 models, was produced in much larger numbers but looked nothing like the Corolla sedan. SR5 is a trim level used by Toyota usually given to SUV's and used to be given to the higher end SUV's. The higher end SUV's now have the "limited" trim level. As far as the cars performance in the snow AWD's systems generally give you better grip in the snow than the 2WDs.
