AC and Rear Window Wiper Issue Help!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Complicated but will try to be concise. No high on
fan. Replaced resistor. Good. Started blowing #12
fuse. Replaced relay and blower motor. Still
blowing. Narrowed down to control unit in dash.
Opened dash, inspected wires. Drove for some
time with dash open. Wasn't blowing fuse so I
closed dash. Now for the nuts part! Thought it was
fine until the rear window wiper and washer pump
came on. OK, maybe bad switch. Fuse #23 was
good. Trick was when I turned the AC off, it shut
the rear wiper/washer off. With AC off, wiper,
washer and delay worked fine. Bleed over
somewhere? Wiper and AC started playing well
together until I hit a fairly hard bump in the road.
Wiper took off again. Any Ideas what is going on?

Gremlins? Any wires touching metal under there? Does a visual inspection show any couple of wires in a harness with flaking insulation? Maybe they are touching? Have you looked for another switch? Try a junkyard before buying a new one.

I did inspect the wires I could see. Most of them are wrapped in tape. The harness does squeeze through an opening at the firewall. Moved them around. They could be touching somewhere. I even thought that maybe there was a wire for AC running in a harness that goes to the rear. I don't have AC back there but maybe the harness is used in my van and in a conversion van too. I have looked for another switch. Would get a used, for sure. My options now is deaden the existing AC hot and run a add-a-circuit off the fuse block with a new wire so it's switched. Another option is to pull the fuse out of the rear wiper slot. I use that very seldom. Thx for your reply.
