89 honda accord

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mom has an 89 honda accord that is dies out
while driving. With the A/ C on it will run with the
increase in RPM. This car has a 2 barrel carburetor
and fuel is only getting in one side while running
and while increasing the RPM. What could be the
possible causes?

Is it one of the bowls smaller & square and the other one bigger and round, if so the smaller front one has the choke plate (make sure it opens all the way). If the second larger round bowl is not opening then its more than likely low vacuum. Check all the vacuum lines if they are good then replace the vacuum controller behind the carb Looks like a EGR at the back of carb right passenger side, not the left side it has a vacuum too may need one too. I have seen people clip wire these to open at the same time with each other as otherwise the rear bowl only opens when at almost full throttle. If the front bowl has issues with the chock plate not opening full then it needs fixed too.

If the choke plate does not open all the way the rear larger bowl will not open if I remember correctly.

If its side by side bowls then I have not done any work on those and can not advise. Other than rebuild it or clean it.
