what causes the key in the ignition lock not to turn all the way when to start the engine,have slk class convertible and it has this problem,sometimes it works and sometimes doesn't turn to start?

Have this car for 2 months and encountered this problem,when key is inserted it powers up the car but when you turn the key to start it stops and sometimes it goes to start,so does the problem lies in the tumbler of the ignition assembly? what solution or part is to be replace or repair to this problem?

This can be caused by the neutral starting switch. Make sure the shifter is fully seated in park if this has an automatic transmission. You can also try holding the break and putting the car in Neutral. See if it starts in that position. If either is the case bring it back to the dealer and have them adjust the switch.
