If my 2000 Impala temp. gauge shows its over heating but it isn't can I bypass the temp control sensor ? How

I would never bypass something that important to your engine. Just buy a new sending unit. They aren't much money and are fairly easy to replace. The sending unit just screws into the engine. All you need is a wrench.
