What needs to be replaced for water leaking from sunroof into the electronics?

Asked by MargieK Oct 03, 2013 at 03:05 PM about the 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 320 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Water is not leaking into the car, but is affecting the modules, like the headlights, locking system, etc. I'm being told that the entire sunroof needs to be replaced because it is rusted. Im also being told that the person who replaced my headliner is responsible for this happening. A new sunroof is over $2,000.00! Plus the modules that are not functioning. Can parts be bought for my sunroof?

it is possible that the sunroof is rusted, probably in one of the corners as the drain holes get blocked and water sits in the gutter channel. check the drain holes located under the car just behind the front whels at the bottom of the A post and at the rear (I forget the exact location but just look for a rubber hose at the rear of the car)
