the a/c knob lights up and then starts flashing

Asked by mandi Mar 09, 2007 at 03:42 PM about the 2003 Toyota Camry XLE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I turn on the AC it works fine for a while and then the a/c knob light starts flashing. I would stay steady for a while and then starts flashing. Though the AC seems to be working fine.

Is this a major problem/repair?

Thanks.

Dear mandi-- It is hard to tell from here what the problem is with the air conditioning on your 2003 Toyota Camry. It might be a problem with the wiring of the knob light. Or it might be the air conditioning itself. Is it blowing cold air? Repairs and diagnosis of the air conditioning system are best left to a trained professional. As a matter of fact the repair man actually needs a license. Take it to a dealer or specialty shop for an accurate diagnosis and repair. Good luck from Bovan.

Mandi, my car is doing the same thing and when the light blinks it seems the air isn't cold anymore. Have you had this checked out with a mechanic yet? I thought it may be low on freon. Denise

I had the same thing last year after the winter. The manual says to get it checked because the flashing says there is a fault in the system. Then mine started to work properly.
