Leaking Oil

Asked by Crystal Aug 22, 2017 at 07:35 PM about the 2003 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Put oil in two weeks ago, checked it today and the
dipstick showed Low Line. Think it is leaking from
the picture I provided? Does anyone know what it
might be?

Hi Crystal, The picture looks like the bottom of the engine where it connects to the transmission. The oil could be leaking from the rear main seal or from somewhere above like the valve cover gasket. You will need to do a little more investigation to see where it is actually coming from. The picture doesn't really tell the whole story.

Valve cover gasket is minor and could be fixed in an hour or two. If it was the rear main seal, that is a bigger job and could be expensive.
