Service manual originally called for Dextron III (AT fluid), but since then GM put out a TSB recommending 10W mineral oil. The TSB is: "TSB 052802 Convertible Top Hydraulic Fluid" if you want to look it up.

Use a 10 wt MINERAL oil. Mineral oil is NOT motor oil.

I have a 95 Z28 convertible and a set of GM shop manuals for it, which I bought when the car was new. The manual says use 10W mineral oil. There are 3 books altogether and about 5"m thick in total. Lots of good info.
