I have a2000 blazer. Just yesterday I needed the 4 wheel and it will not engage, I have had a whining in the past and the lights do not jump back to 2 like I've heard about

It could be the module under the battery tray, very common problem (2 of the screws come in from the wheelwell opening) The rubber dry rots with age and can't hold a vacuum anymore to engage the 4x4. It could be the switch on the dash itself. I would start with those 2 things first

Thanks, traced the lines around and everything looked fairly new. I will check the switch itself

Did you look under the battery tray at the module? Its electric to the module then vacuum run to the transfer case. It needs to be able to hold without any leaks.
