How do I disengage 4 wheel drive from 4H to 2H with 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.L?

Question type: General

I was driving and put back into 2H at a gas station
and as I turned it still felt like it was on (roads
weren't dry either). I went into reverse a little and I
think I heard a click and it ended up disengaged
after that. I didn't think this truck had to have it
disengaged that way.
