Misfireing/Engine getting no power/Several other repairs/

Asked by 2ofthesame Jun 11, 2012 at 02:29 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the past week we've replaced all the spark plugs, fuel pump, all 4 O2 sensor, both catalytic converters and two broken bolts and seal on the exhaust manifold. The pick up is still misfiring and is barely drivable. It's also had a tune-up as well as the fuel lines cleaned. (This was a professional job at the dealship) What could be the next step?

Have you changed the coil wires going to each sparkplug ? I've heard similar symptoms from shorting wires atop the intake manifold where they cross over the motor.

And also if they were changed, double and triple check that they're routed to the correct location. Should be able to search up a schematic or look in a chilton manual. Its easy to put something in the wrong place specially when there is 16 wires there (I am assuming "that thing got a hemi").

Hemi is coil on plug ignition so once you determine which holes aren't firing, swap one of the good coils with one on a bad hole. See if the problem follows. If it does, replace that coil. Also, depending on mileage its possible to have a slipped timing chain. How many miles are on this beast?

150k miles. No Hemi. And no but I will get that wireing thing done. I'll go and get that manual. Thanks.
